Gedenkstaette SS-Sonderlager/KZ Hinzert

Memories of the former concentration camp during the Nazi era.

The press called Eugen Wipf "one of the most notorious figures in the German concentration camps". He was accused of fourteen times murder and serious injury in the concentration camp Hinzert in his three years of activity. Inmates were showered with ice-cold water and left out for hours naked at minus temperatures. He beat a young flamen unconscious and chased him so much water under pressure in the throat until he suffocated. He killed the only Jew in the concentration camp at the behest of the camp commandant, but in his own sadistic way: he let him starve for days, then infused him gallons of soup, washed him off with a hose hot and cold and finally drowned him in a well. He was accused by inmate and camp doctor Dr. Chabaud, in the process of Zurich as "a monster in human form" and an amoral sadist. It was agreed that the Swiss was not a tool of the SS, but worse than this one. He was the devil himself!
