Mercury, Apollo and Jupiter were the main gods of the temple district on the Metzenberg.
This temple complex was dedicated to honor the god Mercury, Apollo and the Celtic goddess Epona, the patron saint of horses, horsemen and carters.
Juno, Minerva, Hercules and Mercury are the usual gods on the Jupiter Column. Hercules is depicted here with lion skin and club.
In clear weather the travelers could see from the temple complex to Trier.
The temple was dedicated to Mercury, the god of travelers and traders, but also the street thieves.
The wells and the forum formed the center of the temple.

means: dedicated to the god Mercury. The temple was dug up by Sabina (= Dr. Sabine Faust) and rebuilt by Carolus Aegidius (= Dr. Karl-Josef Gilles) on August 1, 1989, when Hendricks and Weber were mayors.
For the Gallo Roman culture, the temples of the Gauls were modified.
Naked Mercury was modeled here with the Mercury staff- the caduceus, a winged helmet, wings on the ankles, and a purse in his right hand.

From Konz you cross the Saar-Bridge, and are right in the temple district. The road continued to be used throughout the Middle Ages.
