Mehring in the Mosel Valley
Homeland of three German Wine Queens!
has not only very good wine to offer. Here you can enjoy the Moselle from its both sides. On the Hunsrück side you can see the Roman Villa Rustica, once one of the largest heated mansions in the Trier region. The hikers will discover a Premium hiking trail, which makes a side jump to the Moselsteig, an extra tour to "Mehringer Switzerland". Moving towards Detzem you will come to the highest point of the "Five Lakes View" with a very beautiful panorama (420 m above sea level). The trail park is another interesting option for mountain bikers.
The Eifel side, the Huxley Plateau, is another side jump to the Moselsteig - "Zitronenkrämerkreuz", which is also listed as a Premium hiking trail. You will be rewarded with an amazing panorama view. The "Rentner Club" had some clever ideas: the Finnish trail, with its 1100 m one of the longest in Germany; the sky staircase to the Huxley Hütte and the Chapel. The Mehringer Berg is another worthwhile destination. Fantastic panoramic views are guaranteed!
