The Ruwerquelle is located on Rösterkopf in the Osburger Hochwald. It was already for the Romans the most important source in our region around Trier. Ausonius described the Ruwer source as early as 371 AD.
The crystal clear, very clean spring water, filtered through a quartz layer of about 1000 meters depth, fed the Roman Trier. A tip for the nature lover is the hiking trail around the Rösterkopf.
How to get there: Either in Reinsfeld behind the sports field turn left in the direction of Kell, or via Reinsfeld in the direction of Holzerath, turn left to Kell am See, second parking lot on the right, parking Knüppeldamm. Just cross the street and go straight to Ruwerquelle. Then it goes on foot just under 2 KM far through the forest.
From this parking lot you can also reach the bog "Knüppeldamm" only 500 meters away.
